Tucker, Therapy dog in training
Tucker is a very fun Pyredoodle, half Standard Poodle, half Great Pyrenees. He comes with me sometimes to the office. Therapy dogs have slowly been making their way into counseling offices for the past several years. The American Kennel Club states, “science has shown us how beneficial therapy dogs can be. Visits from a therapy dog can lower blood pressure and heart rate, reduce client anxiety, and increase levels of endorphins and oxytocin.”
Our goal is to allow Tucker to help clients with emotional support while they are working through tough situations. He is “medicine” for the emotionally wounded – he need only be present to be effective.
We really hope that he is able to change people’s lives and help make traumatic incidents a little easier to cope with.
When Tucker is not working, he enjoys eating, chewing, swimming and keeping track of anyone approaching his home.
